Christmas, a Christian holiday honoring the birth of Jesus, has evolved into a worldwide religious and secular celebration, incorporating many pre-christian and pagan traditions from the Saturnalia Festival. Let’s take a deeper look at the the Christmas holiday and its history.

Christ Mass

The word “Christmas” or “Christ + Mass” isn’t found in the bible, however “Christ” is in scripture but what about the word “mass” ? As you can see Christmas consists of two words merged together with the latter word ‘mass’ stemming from the word “mass” which according to the Catholic Church is an re-enactment of the sacrifice of Christs’ Death on the Cross… uhhh… and not His birth. 

So why is it called Christmas? And why is it in December?  Because Pope Julius I of The Catholic Church said so! Seriously.

In early Christianity, the main holiday or holy day celebrated around the world was Easter as mentioned in Acts 12:4. But in the fourth century, the Roman Church officials decided to incorporate the birth of Yeshua (Jesus) though the Bible does not give a date as to when the Messiah was born. 

The only reference there is to the time of year is September because of the shepherds that were herding during this time of year which was certainly not in the winter. Pope Julius I, a leading member of the Church, decided the date would be December 25 to coincide with the Saturnalia Festival that occurred during the same time of the year. The Pagan rituals mixed with Christ’s birth began to spread throughout Egypt and England around the end of the 6th century.

The Roman Church Papacy were hoping the world would accept their pagan religious customs making ‘Christ + Mass’, a combination of two words, the name of “Christ” blended with Catholic “Mass” which actually celebrates a death not a birth.

The customs of this holiday became more popular around the Middle Ages with Christians attending Church and drinking in a Mardi Gras like celebration. Christmas also became a time of year where the rich would give to the poor in order to pay thier debt to society. Kind of like how they do now at the soup kitchens.

History of Christmas Trees

According to history.com, The history of Christmas trees goes back to the symbolic use of evergreens in ancient Egypt. This explains why God wanted his people out of Egypt. So they wouldn’t be influenced by idol worship. Why pine trees? Because they point upward and almost look like pyramids. Place a star at the top, and then you have the perfect illuminati symbol.

God addressed the pagan practice of decorating trees clearly through the prophet Jeremiah hundred’s of years before the Birth of Christ. Let’s take a look:

Hear ye the word which the Lord speak unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

For the customs of the people are vain: for one cut a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

Jeremiah 10:1-8

God warned His people to not be like the heathens or the rest of the world who were fascinated with the “signs of heaven” (the sun, moon, and stars) which have become the ornaments on the tree. (Deuteronomy 4:19) You have the sun at the top of the tree, balls representing the planets in the galaxy, and of course the twinkling stars. Maybe this can explain why there’s so many fires this time of year.

Yet today, many of those who say they love God are just like the heathens and ignore what God says. Maybe it’s no wonder why there’s so many fires and suicides during this time of year.

I challenge any professing Christ follower to destroy their idols and no longer participate in pagan rituals that are falsely associated with the Birth of Christ. And be who you say you are.

AN OUTLAW ON CHRISTMAS

In the early 17th century, a wave of religious reform changed the way Christmas was celebrated in Europe. When Oliver Cromwell and his Puritan forces took over England in 1645, they vowed to rid England of decadence and, as part of their effort, cancelled Christmas. By popular demand, Charles II was restored to the throne and, with him, came the return of the popular holiday.

The pilgrims, English separatists that came to America in 1620, were even more orthodox in their Puritan beliefs than Cromwell. As a result, Christmas was not a holiday in early America. From 1659 to 1681, the celebration of Christmas was actually outlawed in Boston. Anyone exhibiting the Christmas spirit was fined five shillings. By contrast, in the Jamestown settlement, Captain John Smith reported that Christmas was enjoyed by all and passed without incident.

After the American Revolution, English customs fell out of favor, including Christmas. In fact, Christmas wasn’t declared a federal holiday until June 26, 1870.

As Americans began to embrace Christmas as a perfect family holiday, old customs were unearthed. People looked toward recent immigrants and Catholic and Episcopalian churches to see how the day should be celebrated. In the next 100 years, Americans built a Christmas tradition all their own that included pieces of many other customs, including decorating trees, sending holiday cards, and gift-giving.

Satan Claus?

Did you know if you take the “n” from Santa and put it behind the last letter whose name does it spell? Go ahead I’ll wait. There it is “Satan”! Just like the Bible says he transforms himself as an angel of light ( 2 Corinthians 11:14) who rewards the naughty, not nice.

But are you surprised? Anytime there is a being who appears in the night while you are sleeping, it’s obviously a demon and has to be rebuked in the name of Jesus or Yeshua! Now let’s get into the historical account of how this demonic spirit dressed in a suit, manifesting as an old white guy with a beard came to be.

Conclusion:

Many Christians are aware of the pagan practices mixed and mingled with Christ+Mass, but they love the holiday regardless, which is why they find excuses to keep celebrating it by saying “Jesus is the reason for the season” and so on. But at the end of the day, it’s witchcraft at it’s root according to scripture and history. So can you practice this holiday sorcery with all of it’s magical Celtic paraphernalia and still enter the Kingdom of God? I doubt it very much.
